Make New Foundation/Fundación Hecho Nuevo

Ecuador/Venezuela The Make New Foundation or Fundación Hecho Nuevo is a Latino-led organization with a focus on empowering churches and disciple-makers to make more disciples. The leaders of the foundation, Leonel Portillo and Tomás S. Moreno, have been involved in DMM for about 25 years.

The ministry began in Venezuela with CRM (later Novo US). Later, Venezuelan staff were sent to work in an Islamic context, and Leonel and his co-worker Pastor Liévanos moved to the United States, to expand the work (Pastor Liévano passed away, and his wife continues the work).

Several years ago, Tomás moved to Ecuador, as it is a strategic hub for continuing the movement throughout the region; given the situation in Venezuela, it was no longer possible to continue developing it from there, although the ministry continues in Venezuela.

The team has trained and mentored leaders—disciples of Christ—from the following countries: Mexico, Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, and Hispanic communities in various cities across the United States.

Leonel says, “Being part of a movement of disciples committed to Christ and the mission He has entrusted to us is wonderful, for we have seen how ordinary leaders and ordinary disciples not only grow but also start and facilitate discipleship groups that, in turn, multiply into other groups and create new groups within their own contexts, leading to new churches with a DMM mindset.”
