Our ministry is NOVO Korea. The ministry is structured into three main organizations that work together to accomplish our mission: NOVO Korea-Korea, NOVO Korea-US, and NOVO Korea-Global.
Leaders and Geographic Area
Our ministry spans across different geographic regions, guided by dedicated leadership:
● NOVO Korea-Korea: Led by Executive Director Rev. Kwang Hee Paek, this branch operates in South Korea, where a board of approximately 25 pastors and churches directs the NOVO ministry for Korean leaders.
● NOVO Korea-US: Led by Executive Director Rev. Paul C. Yang, this branch consists of Korean-American pastors who are expanding the NOVO ministry to Korean churches across the Americas.
● NOVO Korea-Global: Led by Executive Director Rev. Tong Kun Park and Vice President Dr. Kwang Gil Lee, this branch serves as a bridge connecting the two regional boards with CoNext and NOVO US, while also providing coaching and oversight.
Our board members are highly successful senior pastors who actively apply NOVO's ministry principles to their own lives, yielding great fruit. They utilize NOVO programs to coach, train, and raise up younger pastors within their spheres of influence. Furthermore, some of our board members are heavily engaged in training and coaching local leaders in missions abroad, mainly in South America and South East Asia. Many of our key members have been serving together since the ministry began 25 years ago, and we are currently navigating a transition to second-generation leadership as some members enter retirement.
History and DMM Involvement
Our history spans 25 years, beginning when several Korean church leaders met Steve Ogne at a Church Planters' Bootcamp hosted by CMTC. Following the success of this bootcamp in Korea, Steve connected our leaders with NOVO headquarters for formal training to lead the ministry. We subsequently implemented a Church Revitalization program to invigorate existing churches. Recognizing the critical need for leadership development to effectively drive these initiatives, we introduced the Focusing Leaders program, which successfully raised many leaders and transformed churches. We also incorporated coaching training and the Imago Christi program to ensure the balanced spiritual formation of all participants.
Regarding Disciple Making Movements (DMM), the highly institutionalized nature of Korean church culture initially made it seem like there was little room for DMM to take root. Early attempts did not yield strong results. Recently, however, we discovered new possibilities; thanks to the dedication of several individuals, our DMM ministry is now actively and earnestly progressing. We look forward to making a significant impact on the Korean church in the future by initiating missional church movements, missional living, and lay disciple-making movements through our DMM and reFocusing programs.
General Impact
Over the past 25 years, our ministry has consistently raised and established influential church leaders. Our efforts have produced three General Assembly Presidents and one Bishop within major Korean denominations, alongside countless mid-level leaders. We continue to actively run ministries dedicated to raising up the next generation of leaders.
